LACMA

OCTEMBER 26, 2025 – JANUARY 4, 2026

Diffuse Control is an interactive kinetic sculpture exploring mass collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence. Presented in partnership with LACMA, the work transforms images of public domain artworks from the museum’s collection into evolving AI-generated abstractions.

The piece evolves as curators, artists, and visitors introduce new imagery and remix it in real time through an online interface. Their contributions guide the system’s growth, each interaction shaping both the present moment and the AI’s future behavior—turning every participant into an active collaborator.

Displayed across twelve synchronized video screens, the sculpture continuously reconfigures itself, generating new visual compositions and one-of-a-kind prints from the installation. By merging institutional archives with collective experimentation, Diffuse Control blurs the boundaries between artist, curator, and audience.

Rather than presenting a fixed output, it functions as a living system in constant flux—a negotiation between human intention and machine interpretation. Diffuse Control challenges us to reconsider authorship and creativity in an age where art and algorithm co-create the image of our time.
